New Baby, New Stains
Having a baby is one of the most joyous and special occasions in many parents’ lives. It’s an exciting and busy time – you’re constantly feeding, changing nappies, looking for signs of illness or pain, and battling a lack of sleep.
With so much to look after with your newest addition to the family, finding time to do necessary household chores can be difficult. With children, especially newborns, you will experience a lot of baby stains on their clothes.

Common baby stains
To get you started on the right track, here’s a list of the most common baby stains, and how you can avoid them sticking to the clothes forever:
- Milk stains
As we all know, milk is the staple food for newborn babies. Whether it is breast milk or formulated milk, it is inevitable that there will be milk stains on both your clothes and your baby’s. Whether they are the result of bottles spilling over or an inevitable dribble, you can be sure that these stains will occur.
- Urine & faeces
Every parent will tell you, that babies require multiple nappy changes throughout the day. However, sometimes accidents can occur outside the nappy as well, leaving urine or feces stains on towels, clothes or other garments/surfaces. Don’t worry, as this is natural and thanks to Vanish stain removal products, these stains can be taken care of in no time!
- Oil and grease stains
To protect your baby’s skin, there are a number of products that you’ll need to use from time to time. But while baby oil, antiseptic cream and petroleum jelly work wonders on skin, they can leave stains on clothes. If applying after a bath or change, allow the products to dry before putting your baby’s clothes on.
- Fruits and vegetables

Treating common baby stains

- Milk stains
As the saying goes, there’s no point crying over spilt milk, and Vanish agrees. Remove milk stains easily with Vanish Gold Oxi Action Powder. Simply add one scoop of powder to 4 litres of warm water and leave the stained garments to soak for an hour. Afterwards, add one scoop of powder to your washing machine and wash as usual.
- Urine & Feces
Double the concentration of most stain removers, Vanish Gold Pre-Treat Power Gel is quick and simple to use in a hurry. Simply squeeze directly onto your stain and using the bottle’s rubbing head, work the gel into the fabric and leave for up to five minutes before washing as normal with a scoop of Vanish powder.
- Oil and grease stains
To remove stubborn stains caused by grease and oil in as little as 30 seconds, fill a bucket with 4 litres of warm water and add 60ml Vanish Oxi Action Spray. Following the instructions on the pack, soak before placing in the washing machine with an additional 60ml of Vanish.
- Fruits and vegetables
Quickly rinse your stain with cold water and mix 1/4 scoop of Vanish Gold Oxi Action Powder with 3/4 scoop of warm water and rub the paste onto your stain on both sides. Add an additional scoop into your washing machine and wash as normal.
