The Colour Orange
Explore the challenges of removing bright orange food stains from clothing, especially whites. Learn how Vanish can effectively help tackle pasta, spices, and orange stains.
In this colour article we take a look at the slightly unusual colour, orange. Distinctive in curries, pastas and in a few fruits and vegetables, orange is instantly eye-catching and makes one salivate. But this same delicious-looking colour can be a real hazard on your clothes – especially your whites! You would normally pick up orange stains from food, despite using napkins and eating delicately. But if you have an orange stain on your clothes, help is at hand with Vanish.
Pasta Sauces
However you cook them, pasta sauces can turn a distinctive orange if cooked in tomato. Spices, herbs and other ingredients in pasta sauce can also result in distinctive orange stains. Here’s what you do when you stain your clothes with pasta sauce:
- Flush the area with cold water as soon as you can. This will stop the stain from setting.
- As with any stain, dab away with a paper towel to absorb as much of it as you can.
- Now soak with Vanish for up to an hour, followed by a quick wash.
Spices
Curry powder, cumin, paprika, saffron, and more…spices are delicious and fiery, and can leave tough stains on your clothes For starters, try not to be dramatic when cooking! Spills can easily happen though, so if your clothing is attacked by a spice-filled dish, here’s what you do:
- Curry stains need to be pre-treated with Vanish Oxi Action Powder. On the stain, mix a quarter scoop of powder with ¾ water and rub into a paste.
- Rub the solution into the stain, and leave it for five minutes.
- Then wash as usual. Voila! Your clothes are as good as new!
Orange
Oranges were always bound to feature in this article, but what about tangerines, clementines and mandarins? All have their distinct differences (for instance, clementines are seedless, and mandarins are easy to peel), yet the juice of each will leave a bright orange mark on any piece of clothing you might be wearing. The juiciest, while bursting with flavour, may be the ones to watch out for the most, so peel and eat with care. As for our stain removal tips? Here they are:
- Blotting a stain immediately after receiving it, and drawing the juice away from the fabric is a great way to pull a lot of the excess moisture away, preventing its spread.
- Like with pasta, it’s good to soak the garment or fabric with Vanish Oxi Action Gel, which you can dispense directly onto the stain.
